Found in south eastern Russia & northern China, these big cats are critically endangered.
Possibly only 100 left in the wild
With habitat being so accessible, threats from hunting & development are just a few.
@zsllondonzoo has an initiative wildcats conservation alliance which funds monitoring & research projects
Another beautiful big cat under threat
Photograph is again one of my husband’s as he captured such detail which really helps guide my art.
Love big cats which also helps!!
Title: Blue bird-of-Paradise (Paradisornis rudolphi)
Artist: Eesha Hariramani
Watercolor on paper. My entry for the #wildlifewednesdaychallenge for the prompt #bluebirdofparadise. A rare species of birds found only in Papua, New Guinea. They are often regarded as one of the most fabulous and extravagant of all birds of the world, with its glorified and fancy flank feathers present only in males and also their two long wires also only found in the males.
Title: Comb-crested Jacuna
Artist: Valerie de Rozarieux
Other Links: Etsy Shop
This little chick of a comb-crested Jacana really appealed- I then read that they are also known as lilytrotter- Back to the hot press paper and fun with allowing the paint to pool and create “ cauliflowers “… some people hate them but I quite like them..
Much thanks to @georgina_steytler for her very kind permission to use an image from her beautiful gallery- 🙏- do take a look 😊.
Artist: Pigi Glarou
The title says it all. Phoenix, the bird that is reborn from its own ashes, and a beautiful image found online was the perfect challenge to draw something like this. Combining the two elements, fire and water and showing the perfect balance between them. One does not have to shadow the other and both can create new life together.
As my reference I chose a picture of @moonandcheeze
Such a strong and beautiful breastfeeding momma.
